Carmel Valianti

Founder and President

With over 20 years of experience in the field of environmental solutions and education, Carmel Valianti has dedicated her career to enhancing educational opportunities and promoting sustainable practices both in the U.S. and internationally. As the Founder and Director of Education Now 2.0, Carmel's mission is to make a positive impact on the world through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Carmel's past accomplishments include founding and directing Solar Now, organizing multiple national conferences on sustainability, and serving as a keynote speaker at the United Nations U.N.E.P program. Her work has been recognized with many awards, including the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from the University Of Massachusetts, Amherst; a National Environmental “E”chievement award from a National Public Radio program; an E.P.A. Presidential Commendation from President George H.W. Bush; and the “Teacher Venture” award from Paradise Valley Unified School District, AZ. Carmel has been featured as a keynote speaker at numerous conferences including The Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, NYC. She has been interviewed on the PBS news show The McNeal–Lear NewsHour, and has been personally spotlighted on Voice of America in an international news broadcast.

Dr. Bruce Smith

Co-Founder

With over 30 years of experience as a family doctor and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes in underserved communities, Dr. Bruce Smith is a valuable member of the EN2.0 team. He has worked in rural communities around the country, including the Navajo and Hopi Indian reservations, and has been actively involved in outreach programs during the HIV epidemic.

Dr. Smith's experience in treating narcotic addiction during the current opioid crisis, combined with his passion for improving healthcare outcomes, has led him to become involved in EN2.0's mission to improve education opportunities for underserved communities.

In 2015, Dr. Smith volunteered in Nepal after the devastating earthquake, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of poverty and illiteracy on rural communities. He was convinced that improving educational opportunities for children and young adults was necessary to end the cycle of poverty and illiteracy that remains in Nepal. EN2.0's collaboration with The New Millennium School in Kathmandu, Nepal will be focusing on providing the equivalent of a western high school education to girls and boys from the most impoverished families regardless of their caste. Our project will also help to support the school with teacher training, educational resources, certifications, and collaborations with U.S. schools at the elementary, high school, and college level.

Pravigya Regmi

Founder and Director of The New Millennium School

As the founder and director of The New Millennium School in Kathmandu, Nepal, Mr. Pravigya Regmi is a visionary leader in the field of education. Throughout his career, he has worked tirelessly to promote a strong and sustainable system of education for all of Nepal, with a focus on progressive learning styles and student achievement.

Under Mr. Regmi's leadership, The New Millennium School has become a unique institution that educates children from all religious, ethnic, and caste backgrounds. His passion for promoting innovative learning techniques and breaking away from the norm of rote-learning has set a new standard for education in Nepal.

Mr. Regmi holds a B.S. and M.S. in Biology from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, a Bachelors degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Kathmandu Education College, and a Masters in Educational Planning and Management from Tribhuvan University. He also pursued his M.A. in Environmental Policy from Tufts University in the United States.

Through his collaboration with EN2.0, Mr. Regmi is working to provide the equivalent of a western high school education to girls and boys from the most impoverished families in Nepal, regardless of their caste. Dr. Lohith Kini

Advisor

Dr. Kini is a valuable advisor to the EN2.0 team, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to our efforts to tackle difficult problems that require immediate solutions. His expertise in statistical methods and ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences make him an asset to our organization.

Dr. Kini honed his skills at Solar Now, a non-profit environmental education group founded by Carmel Valianti, the Founder and Director of EN2.0. He credits his experiences at Solar Now, as well as his connections to Jack Coleman, a former MIT physicist who also worked with Solar Now, with providing a launching pad for his successful career in academic medicine.

In his role as an advisor to EN2.0, Dr. Kini brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our efforts to tackle difficult problems that require immediate solutions. We are grateful for his involvement and support, and proud to have him as part of the EN2.0 team.
