A School Year Like No Other

The Pandemic Experience Across the Globe

Education Now 2.0's groundbreaking research offers a unique look into the real impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our schools. Through one-on-one personal interviews with both students and teachers across the globe, we've learned about the pandemic's real, personal impact on their lives. EN2.0's powerful web video series, "Pandemic Perspectives Now," offers insights into how students and teachers are coping with change in our classrooms. The series features interviews with renowned educators, including Dr. Clifford Thompson, a leader in the field of Education and a fifth-grade classroom instructor at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Richmond, California, and JoAnne Grandstaff, President of the Browning Federation of Teachers and an English Language Arts Teacher at Browning High School located on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana.

The student interviews are just as enlightening, offering perspectives from across the United States and beyond. One of our student interviewers, Ava Valianti, a sixth-grade student and EN 2.0 volunteer at Newbury Elementary School in Newbury, MA, organized interviews with students from as far away as Nepal and Native American students from the Blackfeet Nation in Browning, Montana. Ninth grader Destiny Michaelynn Leialohalani Lominario, who attends a Native Hawaiian School on the Big Island of Hawaii, also conducted interviews. The conversation concludes with Ava, Destiny, and EN 2.0's college intern Maddie Nagler, a Junior attending Wesleyan University, reflecting on the universal challenges they've all faced and their hopes for the future.

EN2.0's mission is to educate the global community about healthy and sustainable education practices. By creating and encouraging healthy learning environments, both locally and abroad, we strive to educate students with a strong focus on S.T.E.A.M. curricula.
